15 Inches!?!??!?!

So last night I blogged about how much it had rained yesterday. I said it rained ten inches. Wrong. It rained fifteen inches. In five hours. Needless to say, it was def. flooded. I write def cause i can't spell the full word. Anyways, they even had to evacuate a lot of Gainesville (about 15 miles from Muenster) because the flood waters were up to 2 feet high. I didn't get to go to class this morning because some of the highway on the way to Denton was flooded so bad that it was shut down.
Instead of going to class today, I started on my 7-10 page research paper that is due on Monday. I got 4 pages done, and I pooped out. So therefore I'm gonna write the rest at a later time.
I also spent a lot of time on the internet today. I found some interesting and crazy shoes. I'm going to post them on here so you can see what all I found.

The Potato Wagons are Rollin'!!

Ever heard that expression? My dad always told me that's what happend when you heard thunder, that someone up above was rollin the potato wagon, and when one fell off, it made thunder. My dad always had interesting expressions to use. Like, "Bye, Bye, Buy Bonds!" which I think he got off of the show M*A*S*H*.
So it's been raining in Muenster ALL DAY. Which is fine, because I love it when it rains! When I was on my way home from Denton, it started raining so hard all at one time that I almost had to come to a complete stop on the highway. It didn't help that there were tons of semi trucks in front of me, and all of their rainwater splashing was going right on my windshield.
Muenster is really flooded. The clouds dropped like 10 inches of rain today. Some parts of Muenster are so flooded that you can't even get across the roads. We drove past Elliot's parent's house and their creek in front of their house was completely flooded. We were looking out at their cows from the road, and we spotted Betsy. Betsy is a tame jersey cow that Elliot's grandpa raised from a calf. So she's really old. Anways, she was standing on a little island of land in the middle of the creek, with rushing water all around her! She didn't seem to care, though, because she was just munchin away on the grass. I hope that she doesn't get bored on that little island and try to go across the water, cause she won't make it.
This morning in food prep, we made cream puffs and almond spritz in food prep class. The cream puffs were pretty good. The almond spritz (which are cookies. I think it sounds more like a drink) were not so much. They had almond paste in them, and I just couldn't get past how gross the almond paste smelled. The cookies were cute though, because you put the dough in a piping bag and use a star-shaped piping tip to make little flower-shaped cookies that you then stick a chocolate chip in the middle and bake. So after we made all of these goodies, I walked around and stole some of the things that the other groups had made. This included coffee cream puffs, chocolate cream puffs, black and white cookies, and some other things. I brought them all home so that I could try them and share some of them with Elliot and my family. They were in my bag on the floor of the living room while I went to go look at all of the water with Elliot. When I got back, guess what? They were gone!! And guess who ate them?? THE PUGS! I was ticked! Well at least I know that the pugs liked them, cause boy were they happy after that. They even ate parts of the plastic bag that they were in.
You might think that eating plastic bags and cream puffs are bad for them. Let me tell you. We don't get ordinary dogs. We had dogs in our back yard that literally ate our trees. Two of them. Just chewed right through the bottom. Then they attacked the shrubs. We tried everything to keep them out. Electric fences, they'd jump over them. Moth balls, they'd just carry them off. Cayenne pepper, they'd just get a drink. Black pepper, they'd just sneeze. Finally we gave up. The pugs have eaten at least a whole box of Kleenex since we've had them. They also attack their stuffed toys, but they don't just chew on them. They tear a hole in them and eat all of the fuzz out. Then they just leave the lifeless carcass of the stuffed animal on the floor as a reminder of how vicious they are.
Well, Myth Busters is on, so I'm gonna go watch.

Germanfest has come and gone...

... and it was fun! We did everything on my list! When we went to go find the geocache at the lake, we totally saw three other people who were doing the same thing. Only they were like 50 or so. We're geocaching youngin's.
Some people might not know what geocaching is. It's kind of hard to explain. Basically, people hide these things (they could be old ammo boxes, tupperware bowls, or hide-a-key boxes) all over the place. The website (geocaching.com) tells you the coordinates of the geocache as well as a hint. For example, the geocache at the lake's hint is "Chinkapin." It's on the chinkapin trail in a hole in the chinkapin tree. Once you get the hang of it, it's really fun. People hide these things all over the world. There are just three in Muenster, but when you get out to bigger towns there could be thousands. It's fun because it's like a scavenger hunt, and it's completely free (well besides the gas to get there)!!!!
At Germanfest we did the bbq judging, and it was really fun. There were some good foods! Elliot did't win, but he was a winner is my world. ;)
Then today we went down to the campgrounds so Elliot could pick up his truck and stuff. He left it down there because he had been drinking all day, so I went down there and picked him up last night. So we get down there, and I get out of my car to help him load stuff. Then I close my door. When I tried to open it, it was locked. My keys were in my car. So i had to talk the gatekeepers in to letting me into Germanfest to go find a popo (my ticket and all my money was in my car) to see if they could open my car for me. After thirty minutes and no luck, we just went home and tried to call the local cop. He couldn't get it open because my car is newer, and apparently the stuff to unlock the car has changed, and he didn't have the new equipment. So we had to call a guy that works at a local car repair shop, and he came and opened it for me. It was supposed to cost $40, but he knew us, so it only cost $20.
I got to meet Elliot's sister's fiance's family today. Haha what a tongue twister. They're Phillipino, and they were really nice. His two sisters have the whole asian look to them, and they are GORGEOUS! His sister also brought her new baby (he's like a year to a year and a half old) and we got to watch him do his "tricks." He's got those Phillipino eyes and he is one of the cutest babies in the world. His name is Victor Sebastion, but they call him Sebastion, or Sebo for short. His dad's name is Victor, so that's why they call him Sebo.
Well Elliot's calling me to hang out with him, so I'll see ya later.

It's Here! It's Here!!

It's officially here. GERMANFEST!! I'm mucho excited. This will be my twelvth year to go. You'd think that it would get boring after about five years. No. It never gets old. It's basically just like a big beer fest with music and german food. There is american food too, for people (like me) who don't like german food. There is a big stage with more famous people, such as Reckless Kelly and a little stage with lesser known people, such as the Polka Kings. I kid you not, there is lots of Polka goin round during Germanfest. There is also a big carnival thing with lots of rides. It even comes with the scary looking Carnies that are missing teeth and random body parts. There's also a big BBQ competition. This will be by third year to judge and Elliot's third year to cook. So far he hasn't won anything (but that's cause they won't take my advice on how to get good-tasting chicken and brisket). There's a Fun-Run (5k and 15k) and a Bike Rally.
So this year Staci and Alesig are coming to Muenster to celebrate the festivities. They're coming in tomorrow. We're going to do all sorts of fun things. Here's a list that I'm making up off the top of my head as of right now.
1. Check out the windmills.
2. Maybe check out a few geocaches because I know where they are and I can just show them.
3. Possibly go to Marysville, because it has a population of 18. I'm sure Staci and Alesig have never been to a town that small.
4. Take a random driving tour of Muenster with me as the narrator.
5. Go to Elliot's dairy farm and show the city girls how to milk a cow.
6. Be barbeque judges for the BBQ cook-off. We're judging chicken at 1 and brisket at 3. And of course we're gonna have to try lots of other foods in the fest itself.
7. I'm gonna show them my mom's bookstore and we're gonna look thru the windows of the jewelry store i work at (because it will be closed tomorrow).
8. Go to the "bakerei" or "Bayer's Kolonielwaren" here in Muenster so they can try strudel and the best donuts in the world.

It's going to be so much fun!

The fest doesn't open until 4 today, so I get to work here at the jewelry store until 5:30. It's been pretty slow today. The greater half of the people that have been in here are actually from Muenster lol. But I did have two different ladies come in at different times and buy the same angel figurine. That was a little strange. Some people have had fanny packs, so you can tell that they're tourists. The best part is when they come in and ask you what your name is and expect it to be something really german, like Gretel Slichtenscheid. I always dissapoint them when I tell them my name is Caitlyn Barrett. Boring, and not very german at all. I've also noticed that there has been a lot of commotion and strange noises on the roof of the store today. Squirrels? I don't think so. Rats? Hardly. Oppossums? Doubt it. Carnies? Definately. Scary? Fo sho.
carnies
This carnie has a chicken because she's about to voodoo with it. You can see it in her face.
So tonight I'm gonna go chillax with my barbequein' boyfriend and then we're gonna go into the fest. Friday night is when all the Muenster people go.
"Lieb Und Trink, Lach Und Ting" "In Himmel gibt es kein Bier deswegen wir trinken es hier"
"Live and Drink, Laugh and Sing" "In Heaven there is no beer we have to drink it here."
See ya,

I feel like a snail...

A very very slowwww one.
I'm just so tired today. This morning I had food prep. Made a huge carrot cake, and my teacher even commended me on how nice it looked when it was frosted. My partner and I spent so much time making it (it's a three-hour class), and when we got done with it, no one even tried any. Not even one little nibble. Nothing. So what did I do? I loaded that sucker up with tin foil and drove it the 45 minutes home and set it on the counter for everyone at my house to enjoy. Enjoy they did.
After I let them enjoy the cakey goodness, my mom and I went to tackle the room-cleaning. You see, Germanfest is coming up, and I have college friends coming in to enjoy the festivities. We can't have college friends chillaxin in a house that is not clean. That's no bueno. So we spent like 5 hours cleaning my room. Not that it was dirty, it was just cluttered. I threw a bunch of stuff away and even organized my closet. You have no idea how strange that is for me. Organization is not exactly my favorite word. It's often referred to as the "O" word.
So now I'm tired. So tired that I'm about to pass out in the big brown chair that I'm sitting in right now as I'm typing this. The two 45 minute drives, the 3-hours of running around in cooking class, and the 5 hours of cleaning my room make for a very sleepy-headed Caitlyn. I even got to sleep in this morning. I didn't have to leave Muenster until 7:45!
My dad is making spaghetti becuase I didn't feel like cooking. Elliot isn't here because he's getting stuff together for the Germanfest cook-off. The pugs are snoring on the floor. And I organized. Something's not right. We've entered the Twilight Zone.

I'm a Dum Dum...

... and not the candy kind. I just looked to see if I had any new comments. I had two. That's one more than the last time I looked! I was all excited and what not... then I realized that it was a comment I had posted to comment on my aunt Kelli's comment. Fail.

So tonight for supper I made Chicken Parmesan, Cheesy Garlic Biscuit, Green Beans, and the most gourmet part of all... Mac N Cheese. I know, I know, what a great way to ruin my home-cooked meal. I just can't live without it! It's like an addiction. It's somewhat similar to my addiction to Hamburger Helper Stroganoff and Ben and Jerry's Phish Food Ice Cream. I just can't seem to sneak away from its deadly grip....

So right now me and Elliot are watching Family Matters. What a blast from the past! I was still pretty young when the show was still regularly on tv. That's why I didn't know the theme song word for word like Elliot did when it came on. I was born in 1990, so I don't really remember dressing all nerdy like they do on the show. The only thing I remember is that I once had pink converse. The only reason I remember this is because they turned my lacey white socks pink. And I always thought that was pretty cool (my mom didn't feel the same way).
stever

Well I'm off to bed, I have Food Prep class in the morning. We're making carrot cake with swiss cream cheese buttercream icing. It's not the stuff that you get out of a box and a can, either. It's like full-fledged homemade goodness. Be jealous.

Later Gator,

Ouchies

So this morning when I woke up, I realized two things. One- it was later than I thought it was, and two- my back is killing me today! There are two reasons why my back hurts. One- I have a pinched nerve. Two- I have a rib that frequently pops out of place. Why do I even need to have a back? I say I just get it surgically removed. Then I wouldn't have any pain. Am I right?
When I was driving to school as I do every Monday at 6:30 am, I got stuck behind some really stupid people. It really irks my taters when I'm driving with my cruise control on, and I have to turn it off. That's not so bad, but it's the reasons why I have to turn it off that make me mad. For example... I'm just driving along, listening to my radio. Then BAM! it happens. Someone decides that they can't wait for me to pass them before they try to pass the person in front of them (might I add that the person in front of them is a still ususally a good half mile away). There it goes. My cruise control right out the window. Thanks a lot, impatient-person-who-can't-drive. Road rage? Nahhh.
Road rage

Ok. Well now that I've had a good rant, I'm off to do homework. I have a biology lab at 4:30. Blegh.

First Blog Post!

Hey yall!

Ok, so this isn't the first time I've had a blog, but it is the first time in a long time that I've blogged. So basically, this is a blog to talk about my random and interesting life. Like for example, how one of my pugs (I have two- Mae and Roxie) is running around the living room right now holding on the handle of a plastic cup while it hangs out of her mouth. Also, how my mom is asking me if I'd like to go on eBay and buy ten coupons for a dollar off of one box each of hair dye. Why do I need ten boxes of hair dye?

So anyways, I'll tell you a little about me.
My name is Caitlyn Bailee Barrett. I was born on January 16, 1990. My social security number is.... haha psych! You don't get to know that much about me.
Anyways, I have a brother who is two years younger than me. He's fun. Sometimes.
Ashton
I have a boyfriend that is seven years older than me. But before you start thinking that he's some cradle robber, let me tell you a little background on him. He used to work for my dad's business (my dad works on airplanes), so my family got to know him really well. When he started working for my dad I was 12, he was 19. It's not like we were making googly eyes at each other, though. We never paid attention to each other back then! Anyways, he stopped working for my dad and went to Peterbilt when he was 21, and I didn't see him for three years. He eventually got back in touch with my family when i was 17. He was 24. Ok, he still sounds like a creep, but I promise he's not! We've been dating for almost two years now, and my parents absolutely love him.
Elliot and I
I have five dogs. Two chinese pugs, as a mentioned earlier, a rat terrier, a golden retreiver, and an english bulldog. The pugs are the only ones that live in the house. I know that the english bulldog is supposed to too, but he's really old and reverted on his housetraining, so he lives in the garage, with a fan on him at all times.
RoxieMae
I'm a sophomore at the University of North Texas. My major is Hospitality Management, and I LOVE it! I love to cook, so my major is pretty much the best major in the world.
So there ya go, that's Caitlyn's super-short-show!
